AFRICA: KENYA: NUNCIO ARCHBISHOP URGES YOUTH TO LOOK TO CHIARA

All Africa report: Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya, Archbishop Alain Paul Lebeaupin has urged the youth in the country to ensure that they excelled in their studies while they kept a high standard of discipline in their daily life.
He said the two should march together for a bright future of the young people.
The Apostolic Nuncio was addressing a huge gathering of young Catholics, who had converged at Mariapolis Piero Centre, Juja within the wider archdiocese of Nairobi on Sunday September 26, during a special Mass for Chiara Luce, whom Pope Benedict XVI had beatified in Rome the previous day, Saturday, September 25.
The newly beatified Italian lady died at the age of 19 and was a strong and active member of the Catholic Church Movement of Focolare for both religious and lay people.
The Pope's representative in Kenya urged the Catholic youth to always take Chiara Luce as their spiritual yardstick.
"At a tender age of 19 she was already performing pretty well in the vineyard through assisting the needy despite that fact that she was herself a needy case-she suffered from cancer," he further told over 1,000 youth, members of the Catholic Church Movement of Focolare, drawn from various parts of the country.
During the long-day event, attendants were treated to video and film on the life of the now beatified Chiara Luce. A short film on what took place during the beatification ceremony was also re-played to the gathering.
