AFRICA: MALAWI: HOLY SEE APPOINTS MONS. VAN MEGEN

All Africa report; The Holy See has appointed Monsignor Hubertus Matheus Maria VAN MEGEN new Chargé d'Affaires, in order to give a more stable and continuous presence of its diplomatic representative in Malawi.
This decision means that, while the Apostolic Nuncio - Vatican Ambassador remains Archbishop Nicolas Girasoli resident in Zambia, the Chargé d'Affaires, Monsignor Hubertus Matheus Maria VAN MEGEN will be in charge for the ordinary administration of the Apostolic Nunciature - Vatican Embassy in Lilongwe as well as for the Diplomatic, Civil Authorities and Church's affairs and representation.
Van Megen has officially been presented to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Malawi by the Apostolic Nuncio - Vatican Ambassador to Malawi and Zambia, Nicolas Girasoli and installed on the 22nd September 2010.
The Episcopal Conference of Malawi has welcomed this development with a sense of deep gratitude as it signals yet another milestone in the history of the Catholic Church in Malawi.
