AFRICA: SUDAN: CHILDREN ARE DYING FROM MALNUTRITION

Agenzia Fides REPORT - "Some displaced children from Abyei have died from malnutrition and alarm regarding cholera increases, " said Mgr.Roko Taban Mousa to Fides, Apostolic Administrator of Malakal in southern Sudan, Abyei is under the jurisdiction of Malakal. Abyei is disputed between north and south Sudan, occupied by the troops on May 21 in Khartoum. The inhabitants have fled from the area and are causing a serious humanitarian emergency.
"The rain continues to hit the area constantly increasing number of cases of cholera. Doctors Without Borders have sent medicines to the displaced, but the needs are so many, "concludes the Apostolic Administrator of Malakal.
According to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) there are more than 60,000 displaced people from Abyei and their number seems to be destined to grow.
