AFRICA: SUDAN: PEOPLE DIG SHELTERS IN FACE OF ATTACKS

Agenzia Fides report: People who live in the Nuba Mountains in the state of South Kordofan, were invited to dig shelters to protect themselves from the Sudanese Air Force attacks. According to reports from the Sudan Catholic Radio site, an official of a social security team made a complaint that the air force in Sudan has increased its attacks in the County of Heiban. Every family in the area was then invited to dig a shelter in their home and in the fields, where they can take refuge as soon as they hear the planes approaching. The officials asked parents to take care of their children and keep them safe from air strikes in caves or other shelters. South Kordofan, state of north Sudan, on the border between North and South Sudan has for months been the center of a bloody civil war between the Khartoum government troops and those of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Northern Sudan (SPLM-N).
