Jesus Is Lord (JIL) Church Worldwide founder and spiritual director Br Eddie Villanueva yesterday launched the “God Bless the Philippines Global Prayer Movement.
The campaign aims to highlight Br Villanueva’s belief that prayer is the only solution to the many crises besetting the world in general and the Philippines in particular.
Filipinos worldwide were called to say a small prayer of blessing on the nation every day at 12pm, according to their respective time zones.
The prayer movement, accessible online at www.GodBlessThePhilippines.com, also provides a space for Filipinos to post their prayers for the Philippines thru its Post-A-Prayer feature.
“Prayer is actually joining forces with the unlimited awesome power of God,” Villanueva said just ahead of JILs 33rd foundation anniversary prayer rally in Manila on October 28.
He said he was “shocked” not only by the violence happening in various parts of the globe but more importantly by what is taking place in the Philippines, most recently in Mindanao.
Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) forces in Al-Barka, Basilan, allegedly attacked troops who went to the area on October 18 in pursuit, they claimed, of rogue rebels.
Nineteen Philippine army soldiers were killed. A series of other attacks was launched in the last week that brought the number of reported casualties to at least 35.
Quoting 2 Chronicles 7:14, Villanueva said he believed God would bless the nation if only people would learn to “humble themselves and pray and seek God’s face and turn from their wicked ways.”
The JIL leader also called on all nation-loving Filipinos to support President Benigno Aquino’s “Daang Matuwid,” or “straight path,” for good governance. The phrase was Aquino’s campaign slogan during the 2010 elections.
Based in Quezon City, JIL operates in seven other countries.
